Nobody likes to be out gunned but in an economic downturn business that was once too small for the big guys will become “A” level targets. You competitive landscape will change.  If you’ve ever felt like David sent out to face Goliath you know what I’m talking about.  Big business now wants your business.

I’ve got bad news and good news.  The bad news is that the struggle for the survival of your business will increase dramatically. The good news is that the big guys can be beaten. Sometimes the little guy wins.

What can you do when your business is being threatened? The following three keys may be all you need to ensure you’re still here for the economic up-turn.

Key #1: Know Your Strengths and Weaknesses and Those of Your Competitors

Key #2: Improvise, Adapt and Overcome

Key #3: Make Everything Count

Before doing anything that requires you to spend money or commit resources ask yourself, “Will this expenditure or use of resources bring me closer to achieving my goals and objectives?” If the answer to the question isn’t yes don’t spend the money or commit the resources, save them for activities that will.
